The Band

BIG EASY has a line-up similar to that of the Fletcher Henderson Orchestra of around 1935. We’ve got three trumpets, two trombones, and four saxes (two altos and two tenors). The rhythm section currently comprises guitar/banjo, string bass, and drums. As in Henderson’s outfit, all the reeds double on clarinet.

Trumpets: Jim Lucas, Phil Lucas, (third tpt currently vacant)

Trombones: Pete Fryer, Ian Robertson

Altos: Terry Perry, Dave Dixson

Tenors: Pete Burkhill,

Rhythm: Isobel Toner (Bs), Dave Rigby (Gtr/Bjo), Pete Ellison (Dms) and John Hill (Pno)

Vocals can be heard from Terry Perry, Pete Fryer, Phil Lucas and of course the band’s star vocaliste Linda Leigh, a fine jazz singer with a distinctive voice ideally suited to our style and repertoire.

BIG EASY is led and directed by Terry Perry, who is also responsible for most of the arrangements.
